kauai wedding planning

Elizabeth & Montana

Elizabeth & Montana had such a gorgeous day for their wedding on Lumahai Beach Kauai. We can only have weddings in the summer on this beach due to unpredictable & dangerous surf. Some waves came up a bit higher than expected a few times. The videographer got wet but the bride didn’t! Kelvin Ho was their minister for their Hawaiian ceremony. They wrote their own vows, which made them both cry of course. I tend to always bring  a parasol to weddings just in case someone is getting too much sun, and so we used it for pictures after the ceremony. I would never recommend for a bride to have such a long and unbeaded vail on the beach, because it blows around so much, but it made for a great entrance and once it got to be too much of a bother we took it off. Her white Phalaenopsis orchid bouquet was quite stunning, as was the bride herself. I couldn’t decide if I preferred some of the images in black and white or color, so I posted both.

Kaylie & Tank

Kaylie and Tank were visiting from Portland Oregon and had their intimate beach wedding on the south shore of Kauai. The wedding ceremony was held on Ho’ai Bay Poipu. The ceremony was Christian and Hawaiian. We went over to the Kiahuna Resort, Plantation Gardens as well as  Poipu Beach for pictures. We had a great time taking pictures at the different locations. The orchid garden walk is just amazing!

Renae & Heath

What a beautiful sunset wedding Renae and Heath had with a spectacular view of Bali Hai!.

They had an intimate beach ceremony on Kauai with close family and friends visiting all of the way from Australia.I have to say I really don’t know what it is about Australia that makes the people from there so cool, laid back and fun loving! There must be something in the water!

Renae’s son Sam was and front center for the ceremony, not missing a word. They exchanged leis , did the water sharing Hawaiian ceremony with minister  Kelvin Ho and enjoyed a stroll down what lucky enough turned into being a  private beach for pictures. The conch shell blower was a fun touch, and after the ceremony Sam got to try blowing the shell too.

This beach is ‘Pu’uPoa’ also called Princeville beach by most is such a great beach for weddings. Very accessible through The Hanalei Bay Resort, St. Regis or many public access stairs.

They had their wedding reception at the St Regis on the terrace. We hired the Nostalgic Hawaiian musicians for the cocktail hour.   Yummy cup cakes instead of a wedding cake and the white phalaenopsis orchid centerpieces, which I just loved!

Ashley & Nick Hawaii Wedding

Ashley & Nick had their very  care free ceremony at Kaonohi Beach on Kaua’i'’s north shore. This beach is just before you get to Tunnels. Between there and the Hanalei Colony Resort. It’s a very popular spot for kite surfing. Yes it is windy, but there are allot less people around , than on other beaches.

Amy & Mark’s Beach House Wedding

Amy & Mark were married at The Beach House Restaurant lawn in Poipu on Kauai’s South shore.

Coming from Bowling Green Ohio it was great that they were able to have their closest friends and family join them on this special day.

This is a perfect location if you want to be close to the ocean and still have a wedding arch and chairs for your guests.

The bamboo wedding arch really goes well for beach themed events.

Amy’s Bouquet was a combination or  cream roses, Asiatic lilies and calla lilies. Together they smelled similar to vanilla. Yum!

The white Phalaenopsis Orchids made beautiful hair flowers.

The black lava rocks out front offer a great location for sunset pictures, and the occasional surfer adds a Hawaiian flare to your day.

Gabrielle & Eric Tunnels Beach Wedding

After a two year courtship Gabrielle and Eric decided to come out to Kauai’s north shore from Cookeville Tennessee to say their wedding vows.
It was the perfect time of day for a secluded beach wedding.
During their stay they hiked the Kalalau trail to the Hanakapiai falls, and all of the way to the Kalalau Valley. How adventurous!
They hike together all of the time back home, but Kauai offers a bit more scenery. I kept warning them to take it slow and be careful.
The majestic beauty of the Na Pali Coast is worth at least hiking in a mile or two to see.

Jody & Glenn~ Na Aina Kai Gardens Hawaii

Jody and Glenn had so much passion for each other. You could tell that they had been together for a long time and truly loved each other deeply. I was skeptical at first about the whole Kilt wearing, but wow did it fit Glenn in every way of the word.

Melissa & JD

Melissa had so many wonderful ideas for her wedding.

She wanted to incorporate the “Bali Theme” into her event.

All of the colors were amazing. Her centerpiees were so unlike any other weddings

We brought in orchids from the Big Island and from Orchid Alley here on Kauai to be sure that she had some that were “different”

During the planning process she moved to Kauai. It was great to spend some time with her before her big day!

Brandee & Brad

They had a beautiful wedding and reception at Moloaa Shangri-La! It was a very humid muggy day but luckily Brandee had her hair and make-up professionally done so you can’t tell from the pictures.

We had a little sprinkle during the ceremony, but that’s blessings for a good marriage, right!?

Moloaa Shangri La is such a gorgeous property, with many flowers,  trees and cool  statues. July is the time to be there. The  bright red Flamboyant also know as Royal Poinciana trees and the purple,  pink Bouganvilla are in full bloom.

Amy & Jason

What a sweet and very happy couple! Amy was so gracious and thankful for everything. Though it was a small wedding she was still amazed by how easy it all was for her. Weddings don’t have to be stressful! She wants to be a wedding planner too. I bet she’d be great at it! I will never tire of weddings at Tunnels beach. I had a hard time narrowing these pictures down, as you can tell! They released butterflies at the end of the ceremony. It’s a nice touch and sometimes they’ll hang around for a little while on your bouquet even. Afterward we had a private Chef cater their dinner at Waipouli beach resort in Kapaa. They had crab legs and Prime Rib, yum!
